A youth was detained with firearms by Police detectives at a Durga Puja pandal at Comilla’s Sadar Upazila.
The detainee was identified as Nurul Islam, 24, from Noapara in the Upazila.
The district's Detective Branch SI Shah Kamal Akand said the suspect was carrying a pipe gun containing four rounds of ammunition and two knives when nabbed from the pandal at Durgapur around 10pm Saturday.
Islam's suspicious behaviour during the immersion drew attention of the locals. Consequently, they informed the police.
