Police have rescued a man from the Sundarbans on Saturday night, three days after his abduction from Khulna.
Mahfuzur Rahman, an engineer of the Chittagong University (CU), was rescued from the jungle nearby the Hadda village of the Khulna's Koyra Upazila, said Detective Police OC TM Rokon Uz Zaman.
He said that the kidnappers had beaten him up and snatched Tk 20 thousand from him.
Rahman came to Khulna on Wednesday from Chittagong to visit a fisheries project.
A few men claiming to be affiliated with the project received him at the rail station and took him to the Sundarbans, according to the detective officer.
"He was detained there and his wife was called up for a ransom several times."
Rahman's family informed the police.
"The abductors fled when they suspected police approaching on Saturday night , leaving Mahfuzur Rahman near the Hadda village. We rescued him from there," said OC Zaman.
